The Waste Agency of Catalonia is calling for these grants to promote actions to improve the environmental behavior of companies in terms of waste management.
The Waste Agency of Catalonia (ARC) has opened the call for grants for this year to execute prevention projects, preparation for reuse and recycling of industrial waste and industrial research and experimental development projects applied to this field. The budget allocation is one million euros, aimed at companies and groups of companies with operational establishments in Catalonia.
More competitiveness and raw material savings
Subsidized projects include those aimed at modifying production processes and applying the best technologies available to prevent waste in the same process; the preparation to reuse the waste, the recycling of the waste generated for the original purpose or the general economy and the efficient separation of the waste that allows the subsequent valorization; and the modification of processes to be able to admit recycled materials as raw material.
Companies that present R & D projects applied to this field can also apply for grants. They must be focused on the design and implementation of cleaner technologies in manufacturing processes; in the design of prototypes and pilot projects or experimental trials for the improvement of production processes; and in the manufacturing processes to replace raw materials with waste and / or recycled materials, or in the search for waste and / or recycled materials that can become raw materials of the process.
Promoting the circular economy
In last year's call, 20 companies and groups of companies from a wide range of industrial productive sectors received these grants. Some of the actions that are being carried out thanks to the aid granted are the reduction of plastic waste; a new process of using glass scraps; an innovative paint system that minimizes waste; or the modification of processes to be able to admit recycled materials as raw material.
This type of subsidy is aimed at encouraging actions to improve the environmental behavior of companies in terms of waste management and effectively reduce or reuse what they generate in production processes. Basically, another step in the direction of the circular economy and the use of all the resources we have at hand, optimizing the business fabric making it more competitive, through efficiency and cost reduction .
