The project Printer Phoenix, developed by the company Consuprint SL de Viladecans, has been selected as deserving of one of the grants for projects of promoting the circular economy on the part of Waste Agency of Catalonia.
The increase in electronic waste is one of the major concerns that our society must face and, for this reason, in Europe and Spain new regulations and important reduction objectives have been put in place, giving priority to their repair and reuse.
Printer Phoenix is a new project in which, from the recovery of key elements in the maintenance of the printer, and especially the melters, it is possible to extend the life of these devices as well as their reuse, proposing a model that combines economy and ecology.
The economic savings can be located between a 30% and a 50% from the coasts of the traditional models, those of "manufacture, use and throw", being very superior ecological savings since not only is the generation of these components avoided, but in many cases it is not necessary to replace the printer.
Although Consuprint had extensive experience in the remanufacturing of printer cartridges, the development of this new project has been possible within the framework of the Symbiosis project eco industry, developed by Centro de Promicion Económica de Can Calderón, thus acting as an incubator for the project.
