Circular economy project: Symbiosis

From Viladecans Town Hall we want to invite you to one transformation process towards the circular economy and industrial symbiosis.

Why a circular economy project in the territory?

The global economy has been dominated by a linear model of production where products are made from raw materials that are then sold, used and finally discarded as waste. A model that has traditionally been based on materials, fluids and cheap energy.

Today the volatility in the prices of raw materials, the risk in the supply chains, the depletion of certain resources, as well as the increasingly strict regulations coming from Europe (aware of the risk that the EU imports 6 times more than it exports) are factors that have sounded the alarm to business leaders and policy makers about the need to take advantage of and rethink the use of resources and energy.

The circular economy is a restorative and regenerative model which seeks that products, components and raw materials maintain their value and utility at all times. A way to address the challenges faced by the company and that it will generate growth, employment, and reduce negative effects on the environment making societies fairer and more sustainable.

This new model to which we invite you is not a theoretical model, is a project with an economic orientation that seeks to add value to the participating companies. We believe that all companies in Viladecans, regardless of their size and activity, can have a great opportunity if they really have the will to do things better and differently.

How can we do it?

1. Knowing the situation in Viladecans and detecting what they are opportunities for companies in the area of the circular economy and industrial symbiosis.

2. Impulsive and giving visibility to a total of between 6 and 9 projects on this subject. Projects that can be emblematic and exemplary beyond our territory.

3. Helping companies that are not yet on this path and want to start, bringing you ideas and tools on the best way to start the first steps towards this transformation. We believe in the potential of the city's businesses, however involvement is required.

For those who have a project or want to start, they will have personalized support with experts in industrial symbiosis and the circular economy.
